ELIGIBILITY: The 2024 Better Newspaper Contest is open to current OPA Legal Newspaper and General News Media members. All college news media organizations are also eligible to compete.
Members must be in good standing to participate. New members must have paid their annual dues in full by the contest entry deadline.

DIVISIONS: There are 8 divisions: 3 divisions for Multi-Day and Online-Only members, 4 divisions for Weekly members, plus a separate division for college news media organizations. Publications producing print editions and/or e-editions two or more times per week will compete as multi-day.

OTHER RULES:
ELIGIBILITY PERIOD: Content published from January 1 through December 31, 2024.

IDENTICAL MATERIAL: Identical material may be submitted by only one publication - the newspaper that produced the majority of the content, or, if it was a shared responsibility, the newspaper located in the city with the largest population.

STAFF PRODUCED: All contest entries must have been produced by the newspaper staff or regular paid contributors. Outsourced work may be entered, but the work must have been done exclusively for the newspaper entering the material. Syndicated material cannot be entered.
