The LA-MS APME Professional contest is designed to recognize Louisiana and Mississippi AP-member newspapers for outstanding performance in journalism. The competition is open to all AP-member newspapers in both states. Entries must have been published in calendar year 2016.

The LA-MS APME College contest is designed to recognize Louisiana and Mississippi student journalists for outstanding performance. The competition is open to all student journalists in both states. Entries must have been published in calendar year 2016 and should primarily be the work of an undergraduate student or students, except as noted in the rules under the College News Bureau category. Entries should have appeared in the campus newspaper or affiliated website.
