The WNAF High School Better Newspaper Contest recognizes excellence in student journalism across the state.
Submissions to the 2023 contest must have appeared in print or online between Jan. 1, 2023 - Dec. 31, 2023.
Awards will be announced online after judging has been completed. Plaques and certificates will be mailed to schools following the announcement.
There is a $7.50 entry fee for each entry. Payment must be made before the contest deadline and can be submitted via credit card, PayPal or check.
Checks should be made payable to the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation.
Each newspaper will be assigned a contest manager, who will receive a username and password. The contest manager can add authorized entrants, who may also submit entries. The contest manager can also opt to share his or her login information with staffers so that they may upload their entries. If you have forgotten your username or password, please contact Julia Hunter at julia.hunter@wnanews.com.
Any student enrolled in a Wisconsin public, parochial or private senior high school is eligible.
Entry divisions are:
Division A: Newspapers from schools with fewer than 500 students
Division B: Newspapers from schools with more than 500 students
Entries will be merged into the next highest category automatically if a category received three or
fewer entries.
